Private IRA Lender
Lending From Your IRA
Private Lending
Did you know you could issue loans out of your IRA and have the fees and interest accrue inside the retirement account tax deferred or tax free? With a self-directed IRA you have the freedom and control to “become the bank” with your retirement funds.
- Unsecured Notes are not backed by collateral. You might consider an unsecured note for perhaps a friend or a non-disqualified relative, but it is a higher risk—and sometimes reward—than a secured note.
- Secured Notes are backed by collateral, providing the lender increased assurance of return of the loan amount and interest, such as mortgages and deeds of trust.
One of the attractions for many investors to secured notes is their collateral instruments, which serves as protection in the event of default. The underlying collateral, interest rates, amortization are all agreed upon between you, the IRA owner and the borrower – giving you the ability to choose your risk and tolerance levels. Your retirement can also participate in fractional ownership of notes and can purchase existing, discounted or distressed notes.
